Liberty takes down Lady Cats in bidistrict

BAYTOWN – They fought hard against the District 23-4A champion Liberty Lady Panthers but the Orangefield Lady Bobcats came up short in Class 4A Region III bidistrict playoff action, falling 9-2 Thursday night at Baytown Lee High School.
Liberty leadoff hitter Madison Frazier went 4-for-5 with a triple and a double, drove in three runs and scored two more.
Kurstin Martin went 3-for-4 for the Lady Panthers and drove in four runs.
Liberty pitchers Kaitlyn Slack and Madison Frazier allowed Orangefield just five hits.
Lady Bobcat sophomore Kaylee Ancelot went the distance on the mound, allowing 10 hits while striking out five and walking none.
The Lady Panthers struck for three runs in the top of the first inning.
Frazier led off with a single and Kamryn Parker followed with a walk and Slack loaded the bases with a fielder’s choice.
Martin then came through with a two-run single to right and Harley Davis roped a RBI single to right.
Liberty tacked on a pair of runs in the top half of the second.
Kara Cannon reached on an error and Fraizer scored her with a triple down the third base line. Parker then reached on a fielder’s choice as Frazier scored on a play at the plate.
The Lady Panthers made it 6-0 in the top of the fourth.
Parker reached on an error, swiped second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored off a hard RBI single to center by Martin.
Liberty scratched in a pair of runs in the top of the fifth.
Jewel Moody had a leadoff double to center and Harlee Ford was hit by a pitch, which led two a two-run double by Frazier down the third base line.
The Lady Bobcats scrapped back for a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Autumn Frost got things going with a deep double to left-centerfield.
Jessica Meets drew a one-out walk and Karlye Bramblett reached on a beautiful bunt single to load the bases.
Kristin Broussard reached on a fielder’s choice that scored the first run and Haley Fontenot had a RBI groundout.
The Lady Panthers added a run in the top of the sixth when Slack reached on an error on a dropped fly in the outfield and went all the way to second and ended up scoring on a Martin infield single.
Frost finished 2-for-3 for the Lady Bobcats as she added a single in the sixth, while Bramblett went 2-for-4.
