LITTLE CYPRESS — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears built up a big lead and then held off the Orangefield Bobcats 9-7 as they stayed alive for a playoff berth out of District 24-4A at Don Gibbens Field Friday night.
The Bears, West Orange-Stark Mustangs and Hardin-Jefferson all tied for third-place in the 24-4A race with identical 6-6 records.
WO-S is in the playoffs no matter what, due to a better head-to-head record against LC-M and H-J.
That means LC-M will play H-J at 1 p.m. today in Jasper with the winner making the playoffs and the loser bowing out.
The winner of the LC-M-H-J game will then take on WO-S around 4 p.m. in Jasper to decide the third and fourth-place playoff seeding.
WO-S lost to Silsbee 5-2 on Friday.
For LC-M, Drake Trawhon had a home run against the Bobcats. Mitchell Lee roped a two-run double and Jordan Alexander had a two-run single.
Mason Gonzales had a three-run home and a two-run homer for the Bobcats to keep them close while Mack Patterson had a solo home run.
