PINEHURST — The City of Pinehurst will replace streetlights soon on Strickland Drive. The city will place new LED lights in current street light fixtures.

“The LED lights will deliver a cost efficient and improved driving experience for motorists,” Robbie Hood, City of Pinehurst Administrator said. “The safety of motorists and pedestrians are of the upmost importance to the City of Pinehurst.”

Hood worked with Entergy to secure the improved lighting crediting Johnny Trahan with helping the city move forward with this project.

The new lighting is part of a continuing effort to make the City of Pinehurst a great place to work, live and play according to Hood.

Fred Hanauer III, Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Pinehurst, gave a report on his department’s effort during the recent flooding incident.

“Once the voluntary evacuation was ordered our city employees, fire department personnel, and police officers went door to door notifying the affected residents of the order,” Hanauer said. “And once the mandatory order was issued, they did the same thing.”

Hood and Hanauer expressed their appreciation and praise for the work the city employees do and their responsiveness providing excellent customer service to the citizens of Pinehurst.

The City of Pinehurst did not experience any damage to its infrastructure during the flood event.
