LC-M’s Cox wins another regional golf title, Lady Bears qualify for State

HUNTSVILLE — Little Cypress-Mauriceville’s Lauren Cox won regionals for the second straight year and she will be joined by her teammates at the Class 4A State Golf Championships as well for the second straight year as the Lady Bears finished third overall as a team at the Class 4A Region III Championships in Huntsville Tuesday.
Cox dominated the entire field, winning the individual title by 16 strokes.
Cox finished with a 147, shooting a 73 and a 74.
Bellville’s Bailey Blezinger was a distant second with a 163.
The Lady Bears had a team score of 818 (408-410). They finished behind first-place Lufkin Hudson, which had a 741 (372-369) and Caldwell, which had a 745 (365-380) out of the 16-team field.
Kacie Nichols had a 213 (109-104) for the Lady Bears followed by teammates Teresa Beckett 223 (106-117), Jessica McLain 235 (120-115) and Marlee Bird 292 (146-146).
