WILDWOOD — Both the Little Cypress-Mauriceville girls and boys captured the District 24-4A golf team championships at Wildwood Country Club Wednesday while LC-M Lady Bear Lauren Cox and Bridge City Cardinal Skylar Petroski, both state qualifiers last year, brought home individual titles.

The LC-M (336-354-690) and Bridge City boys (336-354-690) actually tied for the crown but the Bears were honored first-place due to their fifth golfer having a better score.

Petroski strolled to the individual crown, winning with a 147 (72-75).

On the girls side, Cox continued her dominance, winning her seventh tournament of the season, with a 142 (71-71).

Evan Toohey led the LC-M boys with a 167 (81-86) followed by Reese Solis 172 (83-89) Trey Love 175 (88-87), Tyler Ridgeaway 176 (84-92) and Hunter Hooks 190 (93-97).

Both the LC-M and Bridge City boys will advance to regionals.

Hardin-Jefferson’s Nick Beausolei 160 (82-78) and Josh Burns 161 (82-79) will also be heading to regionals.

Theresa Beckett fired a 205 (101-104) behind Cox for the Lady Bears followed by teammates Kacie Nichols 226 (121-105), Jessica McClain 231 (122-109) and Marlie Bird 287 (147-140).

The Hardin-Jefferson girls placed second with a 876, 72 strokes behind the first-place Lady Bears 804 (415-389).

Silsbee’s Mariah Waters 202 (104-98) and MacKenzie Sears 228 (113-115) also advance to regionals.
