ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington freshman and 2015 Bridge City graduate Alexus Henry has been honored as the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Field Student-Athlete of the Week for the inaugural week of the 2016 outdoor season.

Henry won the high jump at the TCU Invitational with a mark of 5 feet, 10 inches (1.78 meters). The native of Bridge City, Texas, currently ranks tied for first nationally in the event, and owns the solo best mark on the NCAA West Preliminary List.

In addition, her clearance matches the third-best effort in school history. Earlier in the week, Henry placed fifth in the pentathlon at the Shirley Crowe Multi Events with 4,662 points. That figure also rates as the best in the SBC this season.

It is the first weekly honor of her career.

Henry was the Orange Leader’s Female Athlete of the Year in both 2014 and 2015.

The Mavericks return to action Saturday when the team hosts the Bobby Lane Invitational at Maverick Stadium.
