Pinehurst calls for voluntary evacuation in low lying areas

Due to the impending floods, the City of Pinehurst has Declared a state of emergency for areas near Adams Bayou and low-lying adjacent areas.  This includes residents and businesses near Macarthur Drive at Adams Bayou, 29th, 30th, 31st, 33rd Streets as well as areas of Camelot, Lancelot, Somerset, Enchanted Oaks and Concord previously affected by hurricane Ike.  Mayor Pete Runnells has called for a voluntary evacuation for those areas effective immediately.  City of Pinehurst workers will be making contact in person and via Blackboard Connect with those residents and businesses expected to be affected.   A mandatory evacuation may be issued as information becomes available.
