The traffic detour for the Rainbow Bridge between Bridge City and Port Arthur has been postponed due to inclement weather earlier in the week. March 7 has been set as the new date for the detour to be put into place, weather permitting. The detour will last until the current maintenance project on the bridge is completed and will allow for two lanes of traffic to travel west and one lane of traffic to travel east over the Veterans Memorial Bridge which runs parallel to the Rainbow Bridge. One lane of traffic will continue to flow over the Rainbow Bridge, however, it is anticipated that the Rainbow Bridge will be closed to all traffic on most weekends due to more extensive work taking place.

The Rainbow Bridge is undergoing a two-year maintenance project with an anticipated completion of late 2016.
