Four Mustangs pick up TSWA All-State honors

The West Orange-Stark Mustangs are still racking up plenty of honors after they strolled to the Class 4A Division II State Championship.

The Texas Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State Team was announced this week and four outstanding Mustangs made the elite list.

Mustang senior linebacker Steven Tims and junior defensive lineman Mandel Turner-King were both First Team selections.

Junior quarterback Jack Dallas made Second Team while senior wide receiver Thomas Wallace earned Honorable Mention.

Tims, who is a Defensive Finalist for the upcoming Willie Ray Smith Awards, was all over the place for the Chain Gang Defense.

Tims notched 215 tackles, 10 of them for losses.

Meanwhile, Turner-King was a nightmare for opposing offensive lines. Turner-King racked up 97 tackles, including 18 for losses and chimed in with 7 ½ sacks.

Dallas had another superb season running the WO-S offensive arsenal. Dallas, who is a Offensive Finalist for the Smith Award, completed 209-of-321 passes for 3,113 yards and 38 touchdowns.

Dallas’ favorite target was Wallace. Wallace hauled in 54 receptions for 984 yards and a whopping 17 touchdowns.

Two other Southeast Texas players made the list as Honorable Mentions and they were outstanding Silsbee quarterback Dontre Thomas and his teammate offensive lineman Patrick Hudson.
