Joint Operation Leads to 200th Child Predator Arrest for the Texas Attorney General’s Child Exploitation Unit

AUSTIN – The Texas Attorney General’s Office (OAG) recently announced the arrest of two suspected child predators following a joint operation between the OAG’s Child Exploitation Unit (CEU), the OAG’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit (FAU) and the Georgetown Police Department (GPD).
“The success of this operation is testimony to the hard work and dedication of law enforcement officers who continuously strive to protect our children and our communities,” said Attorney General Paxton. “I am grateful for these men and women, whose dedication to keeping our state safe is proven with each arrest of dangerous predators. My office will continue to seek out these individuals who threaten our community and bring them to justice.”
The OAG initiated the operation with the GPD, targeting child predators who utilize the Internet to sexually solicit and then travel with the intent of committing sex crimes against minors.
The following individuals were arrested for Online Solicitation of a Minor:
John Gonzales, 38, of Belton;
Carlos Moreno, 59, of Austin
Since the inception of the Child Exploitation Unit in 2003, investigative efforts have yielded an additional 232 arrests of individuals possessing/promoting child pornography. Combined, there have been a total of 433 Online Solicitation of a Minor and Possession/Promotion of Child Pornography arrests, which have resulted in 591 separate convictions of these child sex predators.
The OAG works to protect children by taking child predators off the Internet and into jail, uses the latest technology to track down some of the most profoundly evil predators on the Internet.
