At approximately 12:30pm, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a one vehicle rollover on Highway 73 just West of Taylor’s Bayou.  The initial report stated that the vehicle was on fire.

A construction crew was working in the eastbound lanes of Highway 73.  The construction workers were placing cones in the inside lane of Highway 73 when their vehicle was struck by a Ford F150 pickup truck.  The Ford pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 73 in the outside traffic lane.  For an unknown reason, the driver of the Ford pickup changed lanes striking the construction crew’s vehicle.  Upon impact, the Ford pickup truck rolled over and caught fire.  The fire was immediately extinguished by the construction workers.

The driver of the Ford, Guadalupe Beas (43) of Houston, was transported to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.  His injuries do not appear to be life threatening.  There were no injuries reported by any of the construction workers.

This crash is still under investigation.
