Bear boys take WO-S Power Meet

WEST ORANGE — Powerlifters were busy at the West Orange-Stark Powerlifting Meet to open the season.

The Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School Bear Iron Powerlifting Team took first-place overall in the Boys Division with eight individuals earning recognition.

They are Victor Davilla – First in the 165 pound division, Hunter Fontenot – First in the 181 pound division,  Alex Reed – Second in the 181 pound division,  Trenton Brown – Second in the 198 pound division, Garrett Johnson – First in the 242 pound division,  Grant Leceaur – Third in the 275 pound division,  Jeremiah Armstrong –  First in the Super Heavy Weight division and Chris Dyson – Third in the Super Heavy Weight division.

The Lady Bears also had individual medalists. They included Michaela Dearing – First in the 123 pound division, Courtney Price – First in the 132 pound division, Sh’Kayla Rogers – Second in the 148 pound division and Kelsey Dyson – Third in the 220 pound division.

Orangefield competed in the WOS powerlifting meet on Thursday as well with good results.  The following athletes placed first in their weight class: Brooke Morphew (148’s) Skylar Hammons (165’s) Josh Pennington (123’s) and Austin Moore (220’s)
Austin Moore was named outstanding male lifter.  The following lifters also received medals: Krista Wheeler, Madison Taylor, Julia Droll, Bailey Kady, Brandon Bray, Adam Jacobs, Jake Bradley, and Aaron Galitz.

LC-M will host the next area meet Feb. 4.
