OC Christian Writers Guild learn about commas

The Orange County Christian Writers Guild had their monthly meeting and the lesson was on commas. Karen Stevens was the instructor and the Guild was surprised that there are at least 14 different rules on commas. The style of the placement of the comma is known as the Oxford comma after the Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press, both prominent advocates of the style. First the Guild was given a comma quiz with 17 sentences and they were told to put commas in where they thought they should go. They were surprised to find several rules they were unaware of. The lesson was so well accepted, that it was requested next month, quotations and other punctuations be taught. Sarah Johnson shared with the group about her new book “Blame it on the Mistletoe”. Johnson also shared her great success over the last few years and that she is targeting a local market now instead of the international clientele that she has been accustomed to. Martha Bush shared a visit with a printing company and the advantages of it. If you’re interested in attending the Guild, contact Karen Y. Stevens at 409 988-2588 or karen.stevens@coldwellbanker.com
