Lady Bobcats cruise past Lady Mustangs

WEST ORANGE — Using an early shooting barrage, the Orangefield Lady Bobcats strolled past the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 51-26 in District 24-4A action at Mustang Gym Friday night.

Behind the shooting of Hanna Lowe, Bethany Green and Sabryn Crain, the Lady Bobcats (4-1 in 24-4A play) scored 15 points in both the first and second quarters as Orangefield cruised to a 30-13 lead at intermission and never looked back.

Lowe fired in a game-high 17 points andg rabbed six rebounds. She connected on two three-point bombs in the first quarter to get the Lady Bobcats rolling.

Green fired in seven of her 13 points in the second period. Crain, who finished with a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, tallied eight of her points in the first half.

The Lady Mustangs, thanks to six of Eriel Jordan’s 10 points coming in the third quarter, outscored Orangefield 11-10 in the third period to pull to within 40-24 entering the final period.

The Lady Bobcats finished the night off with an 11-2 spurt in the game’s final eight minutes.

The Lady Bobcats finished with a 32-23 rebounding edge.

Emmi Lummus had six boards for the Lady Bobcats while Paris Fregia had four.

Jordan, Betty McDonald and Gabby Robison each pulled down four rebounds for the Lady Mustangs. WO-S post Nakaiya Platt had five points and three boards while guard Adreama Beverly had four points.

Orangefield finished with five three-pointers while the Lady Mustangs never connected.

WO-S hurt itself from the free-throw line, going just 6-of-22. Orangefield went just 8-of-15.

The Lady Mustangs finished with 20 turnovers while the Lady Bobcats had just 14.

WO-S returns to action Tuesday when the Lady Mustangs visit Hamshire-Fannett. The Lady Bobcats have a bye Tuesday and will welcome in Hamshire-Fannett next Friday.
