Police recruiting day in Lake Charles

Lake Charles Police Department is conducting an open recruiting event on Saturday January 9th, 2016 in hopes of finding highly qualified and motivated applicants for the position of Police Officer. The event will be held at the Lake Charles Civic Center Expo Hall and will begin promptly at 8 a.m. Potential applicants must be a US citizen, over the age of 21, possess a high school diploma or GED and have an unblemished criminal history.

This recruiting event will consist of a physical abilities test, psychological screening, applications process then a question and answer period. Attendees should expect the event to last until approximately 3 p.m. including a brief break for lunch. Applicants will be scheduled for panel interviews as well as further screening to include a polygraph exam and background investigation.

The position of a Police Officer with Lake Charles Police Department comes with a comprehensive benefits package, uniforms and equipment provided by the department, a competitive starting pay effective January 1, 2016 of $16.38 an hour, in addition the city supplements starting pay by $200 a month. This equates to a starting hourly rate of $17.63 an hour.
