The Orange County Economic Development Board met recently to discuss plans for maintaining economic development activity.

“We are going in a different direction and will contract with the Ready Group to continue ongoing projects,” Pinehurst City Administrator Robbie Hood said.

Hood was appointed, along with Orange County Judge Stephen Brint Carlton to an Executive Committee. They will oversee the efforts of the board during a transition period.

The Ready Group is an economic development group active in Beaumont and Mid-County. They have agreed to be a contact for those outside the area requesting assistance in gaining information.

The board will consider advertising for an Executive Director in the future.

Orange County, West Orange, Pinehurst and Bridge City are joining forces to maintain the interim arrangement.

The Orange County Economic Development Corporation currently in place will lose its funding at the end of this year.
