SPLENDORA – The Bridge City Cardinals will enter the playoffs with some momentum after they dispatched the Splendora Wildcats 35-14 in District 10-4A Division I action at Wildcat Stadium.

The Cardinals (7-3, 4-2) will now move on to the playoffs where they will face the Carthage Bulldogs (7-3, 4-1), the second-place team out of District 9-4A.

The Wildcats actually got on the scoreboard first with a nice five-play, 65-yard scoring drive to go up 7-0 with 9:55 remaining in the first quarter.
The Cardinals wasted little time evening things up on their first series of the night.
Quarterback Camden Dubois teamed up with Byron Trahan on 45-yard pitch-and-catch and two plays later Trahn found paydirt with a 17-yard touchdown scamper to complete a three-play, 65-yard drive to make it
7-7 with 8:56 left in the first.
The Cardinals then chewed nearly five minutes off the clock and Dubois capped a 11-play, 68-yard march with a one-yard keeper to make it 14-7 with 0:34 remaining in the first.
After taking advantage of a short field, the Cardinals found the end zone again. Dubois finished off a four-play, 40-yard drive by zipping 20 yards for the score to push the lead to 20-7 with 6:17 left in the half, a cushion Bridge City took into intermission.

The Wildcats pulled to within 20-14 remaining in the third quarter after scoring on a long drawn-out 15-play, 47-yard drive.

Running back Colt Poole gave the Redbirds some breathing room when he made it 28-14 with four minutes left in the third when he broke away on a 45-yard touchdown romp.

The Cardinals then got a little sneaky, converting a on-side kick on the ensuing kickoff. Dubois finished it off when he scooted 29 yards for a score.
