OC Commissioners to hold Public Workshop Monday

A public workshop to be held 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at the Orange Count y Administration Building, 123 South 6th Street in Orange shows local government listening to citizens.

At a Commissioners Court meeting last Monday, a citizen asked the court if the ones who retired Friday would be able to have the retirement rescinded.

County Judge Stephen Brint Carlton said the court could not discuss anything not on the agenda.

The court is not allowed to discuss items not on the agenda according to the Texas Open Meetings Act.

The unnamed citizen also asked if the item could be placed on the next agenda for discussion.

A workshop scheduled for Monday will discuss and review the county policy regarding employees voluntarily terminating employment, resigning or retiring from the county and wanting to rescind the decision. The court will also discuss and review the decisions of the reclassification committee.

The court is scheduled to take action on the county policy regarding employees voluntarily terminating employment, resigning or retiring from the county and wanting to rescind the decision during the 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14 meeting.

Orange County Commissioners Court has also scheduled Budget Workshops at 9 a.m. Tuesday – Friday, Sept. 15-18, to review and discuss all aspects of the Orange County Budget for the f2015/2016 fiscal year.
