The Labor Day holiday weekend is upon us once again, which means many area businesses and government offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 7, and the majority of non-essential city, state and federal offices and institutions will be closed in observance of the holiday.

All non-essential offices in the Cities of Orange, West Orange, Pinehurst, Bridge City, Vidor, Rose City and Pine Forest will be closed Monday. Regular city business will resume at normal hours on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Garbage services will run as normally scheduled for all entities.

All non-essential Orange County and State of Texas offices will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day too. Financial institutions such as Sabine Federal Credit Union, First Financial Bank, Compass Bank, MCT Credit Union and others will be closed also.

The United States Postal Service will observe the Labor Day holiday on Monday and there will be no deliveries. Mail delivery and collection will resume on Tuesday as normal.

All local school districts will be closed on Monday, as a student and teacher holiday, as will Lamar State College-Orange, Lamar University and LIT.

The Orange Leader offices will be closed on Monday and reopen at 8 a.m., Tuesday, for normal business operations.
