Lady Bulldogs get past Lady Bobcats in three

ORANGEFIELD – The Orangefield Lady Bobcats dug themselves a hole in the first two games and fought hard in Game Three but the Nederland Lady Bulldogs still escaped Bobcat Gym with a 25-11, 25-13, 25-20 non-district volleyball victory.

Nedrland jumped out to a 9-1 edge in Game One. The Lady Bobcats were able to trim it to 16-10 but the Lady Bulldogs tallied nine of the game’s final 10 points.

Nederland led 12-8 in Game Two and scored nine straight points to go up 21-8 to control it.

The Lady Bulldogs built a 13-7 edge in Game Three but the Lady Bobcats got it to within four four times, including 20-16 but Nederland was able to prevail.

Sabryn Crain led the Lady Bobcat attack with nine kills. Julianne McManus had six kills while Rebekah Newell had five while Anna Van Pelt had three and Kaylyn Nelson two.

Newell led the Lady Bobcats with seven service points and an ace. McManus had three points and an ace and Van Pelt had two points.

Courtney Nowell paced the Lady Bulldog attack with 11 kills. She also had eight points and five aces.

Marlie Lee contributed seven kills while Caroline Noel had six and Tatum Kieschnick and Katelynn Huckabay added four apiece.

Abby Montalvo had her service game working as she posted 15 points and four aces while Darcie Jones had 13 points and four aces.
