Lady Pirates, Bears pick up net wins

The Deweyville Lady Pirates and Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears came away with wins on the volleyball courts Tuesday night while the Orangefield Lady Bobcats lost on the road to a stout Port Neches-Groves squad.
The Lady Pirates took down the Hull-Daisetta Lady Bobcats 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 to improve to 8-1 on the young season.
Kennidee Willis notched 16 kills and 15 digs. Shaylin Dupuy posted 17 assists and four aces.
Gabby Dupuy had 17 digs. Mallory Head had four kills, five digs, two aces and a block while Josey Hutto had three blocks and a kill.
The Lady Pirates will be competing in the Hamshire-Fannett Tournament Thursday and Saturday and will play Vidor in Vidor Friday. Vidor defeated Beaumont Kelly for its first win of the season Tuesday, winning 26-24, 18-25, 25-17, 16-25, 18-16. Vidor will also be participating in the Hamshire-Fannett Tournament
The Lady Bobcats fell short at The Reservation to the Rock-A-Noos 25-15, 25-17, 25-22. Sabryn Crain paced the Lady Bobcats with 15 kills while Ashlyn Turley led the way with 22 assists.
The Lady Bears, meanwhile, went on the road and defeated the Beaumont Central Lady Jaguars 25-14, 22-25, 25-12, 25-7.
The Bridge City Lady Cardinals went to Lumberton and fell to the Lady Raiders 3-0.
Bridge City and LC-M will both compete in the Dickinson Tournament this week. West Orange-Stark will compete in the Buna Tournament while Orangefield hosts Anahuac Friday.
