Vidor man found dead in Jasper motel

JASPER ­— The body of a Orange County man was found this past weekend in an East Texas motel room.

The Jasper Police Department received a call shortly before noon, Sunday, July 12, from the clerk of the Budget Inn motel, which is located in the 900 block of East Gibson Street in Jasper, stating he could not make contact with the occupant of the room and was concerned, according to a report.

Two officers arrived at the scene and made entry into the room, where they discovered the body of a 28-year-old man from Vidor. His identity has not been released at this time.

According to reports, the body of the man was found close to the motel room door. Although no signs of trauma were immediately visible, the report stated there was evidence of drug activity in the man’s room.

Judge Ronny Billingsley, Jasper County Justice of the Peace in Precinct 1, arrived at the scene and called for an inquest. Police were attempting to locate the next of kin before releasing the Vidor man’s identity.
