LC-M school bus involved in afternoon wreck

MAURICEVILLE — A school bus carrying more than a dozen children was involved in a minor two vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon.

A school bus of the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District transporting 13 children home after school when it was involved in a two vehicle collision at approximately 4:30 p.m., Thursday, May 21, when it was struck from behind by another motorist.
According to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the LC-M CISD school bus had stopped on the should of State Highway 12 in Mauriceville to unload students. The bus was then struck from behind by an unidentified 20-year-old man from Vidor driving a Chevrolet automobile.
Heavy rains drenched much of Orange County on Thursday and weather may have been a factor. However, Troopers with the DPS were still gathering evidence to determine all of the contributing factors into the wreck.
No injuries were reported in the wreck, but an ambulance had been called to the scene as a precaution. After Troopers released the students, another bus picked up the students and transported them to their place of residence.
