ORANGE — Kotoyama Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi voluntarily closed last weekend to remodel.

Trung Tran, owner, said he wanted to offer good food to the people of Orange County without having to travel.

“We closed so we could remodel and redo the kitchen,” Tran said.

Tran also said he is aware of recent issues which may have raised concerns with customers.

“We are fixing the problems,” Tran said. “I fired the manager.”

Tran also said he will manage the restaurant. He purchased the restaurant three years ago.

Lyna Pham, waitress, saw the updated look on Tuesday.

“It’s my first day back to see the changes,” Pham said. “It has an updated look now.”

The Orange County Health inspector noted the restaurant located at 2226 MacArthur Drive in Orange showed much improvement since the last inspection just three ago. The restaurant received a 93 out of a possible 100.

Tran also said that new items such as fried catfish have been added to the menu.

“We have a seafood kitchen,” Tran said. “All our food is made when it is ordered. We use fresh food every day.”
