FREEPORT, Texas — Police in Freeport in Brazoria County have shot and killed a man who they say pulled a gun on them as they were trying to question him.
Authorities say officers were talking with witnesses Tuesday evening while investigating a report of shots fired when one of the witnesses pointed out a car driving by that he identified as belonging to the shooter.
Police pursued the car to an intersection, ordered the driver to show his hands but he refused.
As officers opened his car door, he pointed a gun at them and started shooting.
At least three officers returned fire, killing him.
Texas Rangers and the sheriff's office in the county southwest of Houston are investigating. Name of the victim hasn't been immediately released. No officers were hurt.
