Bobcats claim honors at UIL event

ORANGEFIELD — Orangefield High School UIL students participated in the Sabine Pass Invitational UIL meet on Saturday, March 2.

In the Computer Applications category, Kristen Blanke finished in fourth place while Kimanh Tsan placed sixth.

In the Current Issues and Events category, Gage Counts won first place for the Bobcats while Casey Smith finished in fifth place. Counts and Smith, along with Kirby Clayton and Kaleb Longron, helped power the Bobcats to a second place team finish in the same category.

Kimanh Tsan and Thanh Tsan placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Spelling and Vocabulary contest and both Tsans, along with Sage Granger and Shelby Williams, propelled the Bobcats to a second place team finish in the category.

Jamie Beaulieu placed fourth in Feature Writing and and fifth place in Headline Writing, while, in the News Writing category, Carrie Grace Henderson finished third and Kirsten Wolfford added a sixth place finish. Wolfford also placed sixth in Prose Interpretation.

Gage Counts added a third place finish to his tally in Persuasive Speaking, Marianna LaChance was fifth in Editorial Writing and Jeffery Kam placed fifth in Ready Writing.
