The Orange Leader
BRIDGE CITY —
The element of surprise was used during the Shooter Drill at Bridge City Elementary School, 1035 West Roundbunch, on Wednesday.
The drill was performed after the children were released for the day.
“We knew the day and approximate time,” BCISD Superintendent Mike King said. “The actual scenario was a not told to us.”
The drill was held for law enforcement, first responders as well as the school employees.
“This gives us a chance to look at our plan,” King said. “We will go over it as a team with law enforcement and again with the school.”
The drill was deemed good as law enforcement was able to locate the lone ‘shooter’.
Bridge City ISD Police Chief George Navarro set the drill up.
The Bridge City Police Department, Bridge City Fire Department, Orange County Sheriff Department, Orange County SWAT team, Texas State Troopers, West Orange Police Department, Acadia, and South East Air Rescue participated in the drill.
