ORANGE — Laqueta Joy Mc Lellan, 75, of Orange passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Orange.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Orange Texas.  Visitations will Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Doorman’s Funeral Home.

Laqueta is survived by her husband Archie Mc Lellan, four sons, Dennis Garrison of England, Bryan Garrison of Houston, Samuel Mc Lellan of Orange and Marcus Mc Lellan of Lumberton. Her 7 grandchildren, Laura, Rachel, Sophie, Liam, Caellagh, Ronan and Corbin. Her great grandson Caleb.  She also survived by sisters, Darlene Carrico of Springfield, KY, Shirley Ruley of Bartown, KY; brothers, Raymond Nail of New Braunfels, Don Nail of Orrick, MO.

She was preceded is death by her father, Samuel Dewy Collier; mother, Mable Viola (Evans) Collier; sister, Betty Doyle; brothers, Charles Nail, Billy Nail, Dewey Ray Collier.

Laqueta was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to many.

Laqueta worked as an elementary school teacher in Orange for over 20 years teaching many second graders at Anderson Elementary. She had a great love for her God, family and friends; was an active member of The First United Methodist Church, AAUW, Book Ends, Theater Guild, and Orange County Sheriff Association. She taught Silver Sneakers at Bodyworkz.  Laqueta was physically active her whole life playing tennis, running and working out regularly.

She enjoyed her travels and had an opportunity to visit many places around the world, having just returned from a trip to England in September with her sister.

Laqueta was one of those people who could read books all the time and enjoyed many different types of literature.

Laqueta’s passion was her cooking.  But more than the cooking her pleasure was watching everyone enjoy the fruits of her labor. Her cooking was truly a labor of love.

Laqueta Joy Mc Lellan will be greatly missed by her family, friends and everyone she came into contact with during her life.
