Janice Lee Underwood, 76, resident of Trinity, NC, went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2014 in Hospice Home at High Point.
Janice was born July 6, 1937 in Council Bluffs, Iowa a daughter of Clifford and Sarah Carmichael.
She was married to Richard Underwood on February 24, 1990; they were married for 15 years before his death in 2005. She was native to Orange, TX prior to her move to Trinity, NC. She was actively involved in the VFW Women’s Auxiliary during her time in Texas. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, traveling and gardening.
Janice worked for Skinners and owned and operated several bars in Nebraska. She then worked at the VFW in Orange TX where she met her latest husband. From then she was a devoted homemaker.
Janice Underwood is survived by her sister Pamela Parker and husband Douglas, brother Melvin Carmichael, son Michael O’Dell, daughter Jamie Williams, son in-law Johnnie Freitas, stepsons Mark Underwood, John O’Dell, stepdaughters Kelly Mullett, Joni Fuchs, Carlene Underwood, Karen Underwood, Patricia Boozer, 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Sarah Carmichael, husband Richard Underwood, brothers Gary and Wayne Carmichael, sister Nancy Carmichael and daughters Nancy Freitas and Cindy Colwell.
A memorial service will be determined by the family at a later date in her hometown.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hospice Home of High Point for making her comfortable during her final days.
