The body of a man found in the water near the Rainbow Bridge has been identified as that of a person from Orange County.
The body of Christopher Reich of Vidor was located in the Neches River near the Rainbow Bridge late Monday afternoon by the United States Coast Guard. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division was dispatched to the scene and recovered Reich’s body from the water with assistance from the Port Arthur Fire Department, according to a press release.
A joint investigation into the matter by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Vidor Police Department of a missing person led to the identification of the 35-year-old Reich, who was reported missing on Friday, Jan. 17.
According to information provided by Deputy Rod Carroll of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, autopsy results have determined Reich’s cause of death was due to drowning.
