The body of a man missing since his boat collided with a tugboat and barges on Sunday has been found.
The body of 56-year-old John Tran, a resident of Bridge City, was located at approximately 8 p.m., Monday, was located near the site of where his 17-foot crabbing boat collided with a tugboat and barges along the Intracoastal Waterway at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, July 7.
The collision was initially reported by the tugboat captain, according to an article by the Associated Press. The United States Coast Guard dispatched a rescue helicopter from Houston and two rescue boats from Sabine Pass in the search. Boats from both the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office assisted in search efforts too.
A Coast Guard representative stated the smaller boat sank but had been located under water. The tugboat was not damaged.
