A body found inside a burning trash receptacle on Tuesday morning has been identified.
Investigators with Beaumont Fire and Rescue on Wednesday identified the person as Karl Aldrich Lillyquist, a 58-year-old man from Beaumont. Lillyquist’s body was found inside the container shortly after 2:15 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, when firefighters answered the call of a Dumpster on fire behind the Exxon gas station at the corner of Highland Avenue and Cardinal Drive in Beaumont.
Investigators stated Lillyquist apparently died of smoke inhalation and have deemed the death accidental.
Firefighters extinguished the flames and found Lillyquist’s partially burned body inside. No identification was found at the scene and his body was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue for an autopsy, while investigators brought the trash container to the Jefferson County Crime Lab for analysis.
