ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) attended the state convention, which was held Feb. 17 - Feb. 19 in San Antonio, Texas. Sponsors Veronica Johnson and Janet Mills brought 17 students to the convention. Three of the students competed at this state level. Kirsten Wolfford placed first in impromptu speaking and Carrie Grace Henderson made it to the finals in Keynote speaking. Elizabeth Newell and Ashley Kibodeaux also competed at this level. When not attending the general sessions or competitions the students were able to sight-see. They went up the Tower of Americas, rode the river walk tour boats; saw the Alamo, as well as a few other activities. The students became eligible to attend by gaining points throughout the fall semester and attending the regional convention held this past December.
