ORANGEFIELD — A new subdivision is approved for the Orangefield area.

The Orange County Commissioners Court approved the development which will include 44 new homes for Twin Lake Estates, Phase I, during the Monday afternoon meeting.

The location is within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Bridge City and will be served by the Orangefield Water Supply Corporation.

Commissioner, Pct. 4 Jody Crump asked if the Drainage District had looked at the plans.

Stephen Gault, developer/broker for Countryland Properties, LLC said a 25 foot easement has been granted to the Orange County Drainage District.

“For years, there was a gentleman’s agreement for access to the relief ditch,” Gault said. “Now there will not be a question of that.”

Gault also said that the funding is already approved and now the company is meeting with the appropriate entities.

“We hope to break ground in mid-August,” Gault said.

The subdivision will be in the Orangefield school district.
