LITTLE CYPRESS —
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Education Foundation, Inc. Prize Patrol was held on Friday, March 7. This event is when members of the Board of Directors for the Foundation visit campuses throughout the District and present the winners with oversized checks and balloon bouquets.
This year the Foundation awarded 15 grants totaling $14,253.02. This brings the combined total, over the ten years that the non-profit has been giving grants, to 116 grants worth $141,961.34.
This year’s recipients include Stacey Nichols, Julie Landry, Anna Mott, Wendy Peveto, Kelly Meadows, Rachel Choate, Sommer Reynolds, Magen Russell, Tom Brandow, Charlette Roddy, Jennifer Marcantel, Elise Fountain, Sara Kelley, Lyn Hickey and Kim Allen.
The organization’s focus is to offer educational grants to teachers through a competitive application process. It is an independent organization, operating under its own board of directors and is composed of citizens who share a vision of enhancing education and student achievement in the LCM District. To fund these grants the LCM Education Foundation Inc. conducts several fundraising projects throughout the year, as well as soliciting funds from businesses and organizations that recognize the importance of focusing on the education of the community's greatest resource, its children.
