ORANGE — Thanksgiving Day Service

Starlight Church of God in Christ, 2800 Bob Hall Road in Orange, welcomes the community to join them for Thanksgiving Day Service from 11 a.m. - noon, Thursday, Nov. 28. Come and enjoy praise and worship, singing, testimonial service and Inspirational Speakers. The Pastor of Starlight is Superintendent E.B. Lindsey.



Thrift and Gift

Thrift and Gift, located at 350 37th St. in Orange, has half-priced fall wreaths and arrangements for Thanksgiving and front doors, as well as select vendor items including Christmas trees, wreaths and arrangements for the holidays. National Model Railroad Month

Grace Luther Church, 2300 Eddleman Road, invites the public to its Open House events from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 30 to see mode trains, railroad layouts and an appearance by “Thomas the Train.” On Nov. 30, there will be four other railroad layouts open in the Golden Triangle for viewing as part of the Houston Railroad Tour, in Mauriceville, Bridge City, Groves and Beaumont. Directions will be available at Grace for each of these layouts. The ever popular “Lego” train layout will also be returning on Nov. 30 at the church. Church Garage Sale

Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 612 Third St. in Orange, will hold a garage sale from 7 a.m. - until on Saturday, Nov. 30 featuring baby clothes, toys, apparel for men and women, furniture and more. Call 409-920-9841 for info.

 

Christmas Tree Lighting

The City of West Orange will hold its annual Christmas Tree Lighting celebration beginning at 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2 in the West Orange Community Center. Orange County Judge Carl Thibodeaux will read “The Cajun Night Before Christmas” and there will be caroling followed by the lighting of the city Christmas tree. Santa will visit children following lighting. Refreshments will be served.



Vidor Historical Society

The Vidor Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2 at in the Fellowship Hall of First Pentecostal Church at Camp and Wilson Streets.



City Council

Pine Forest City Council will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2 at City Hall, 305 Nagel St. in Pine Forest. The public is welcome to attend.



Vidor TOPS Chapter

The Vidor Chapter of TOPS meets at 7 p.m., every Monday, at First United Methodist Church, 501 N. Main in Vidor. Weigh-in is from 6 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.



Vidor Rotary

The Vidor Rotary Club meets at noon, every Monday, upstairs in the Capital One building on North Main Street.

Art Guild Classes

The Nederland Art Guild meets from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., every Tuesday, at the Texas Artists Museum, located at 3501 Cultural Center Drive, Port Arthur, near the Bob Bower Civic Center. American Legion Post 49, 108 Green Ave. in Orange, will hold a plate lunch fundraiser from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5. Cost is $8 and meal consists of fried fish, green beans, cole slaw, potato salad, bread and dessert. Walk-in’s welcome and delivery available. Children’s workshop

A Christmas Workshop will be sponsored by the Texas Artists Museum from 10 a.m. - noon, Saturday, Dec. 7, at the museum located at 3501 Cultural Center Drive, Port Arthur. Cost is $10 per person for ages 6 to 12. The workshop will feature Christmas oriented crafts and fun for all. Spaces are limited so please sign up as soon as possible. All members of The Lutcher Theater Service Guild are invited to attend the annual Christmas Dinner at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10 on the stage on the first floor of the theater. Vidor City Council will only have one meeting in December and that is at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, at City Hall, 1395 N. Main St. in Vidor. The public is invited to attend.



Classic Christmas Cruise

The Vidor Classic Christmas Cruise will be held from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, at Capital One Bank, 1255 N. Main in Vidor. There will be food, vendors, live music, a street dance and classic automobiles. Car lineup at 4 p.m., and cruise is at 5 p.m. Call 409-769-6339 for car registration and vendor information.
