Cold temperatures and rain prevented the North Orange Baptist Church, 4775 North 16th Street, Orange, from setting up for the third annual Village of the Nativity, causing the event to be canceled for this year.
“We appreciate all who have worked towards the event,” Executive Pastor Rusty Dollar said in an e-mail. “We will continue to make plans to have it again next year.”
Over 100 members of the church recreate a village representing first century Palestine. Visitors experience the sights, sounds and smells of the town as one walks through the town that ends at a manger scene.
Weather predictions of rain and freezing temperatures for the upcoming weekend contributed to the cancellation as well.
