DEWEYVILLE — The new school year has also been the beginning of a new activity in Deweyville ISD.
Deweyville High School held its first official FFA meeting on Monday, Sept. 24, in the high school cafeteria. Superintendent J. Kevin Mathis was present at the meeting and spoke on the behalf of the school district and the FFA. The meeting was opened by President, Senior- Sydney Edwards. She introduced Vice President, Junior- Tori Lummus who called the role of officers including Sentinel Senior- Alexis Sartin, Reporters Senior- Hope Brown and Junior- Kealey Nicholson, Treasurer Junior- Colton Bates, Secretary Sophomore- Bri Kagle, and Advisor Sophomore- Jada Fairchild. There was 24 members present and 2 guests. President, Sydney Edwards adjourned the meeting and all members and guests enjoyed food and beverages and discussed upcoming FFA events.
The next Deweyville High School FFA meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, in the cafeteria. Soon, they will have special guest Jodi Cockrell, Area 9 2012-2013 FFA state officer, to speak at one of their meetings.
Joe Waldrum, Ag teacher, and all FFA members ask that you attend their meetings to help expand their ambitions for this years FFA. Many fundraisers and events will be organized throughout the year.
