Human remains found in wooded area in Vidor

PRESS RELEASE — On Saturday, November 18, 2017, about 11:57am, the Vidor Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Highway 12 about Human Remains being found in the wooded area. Upon the Officer’s arrival, they did locate human remains.

An investigation is underway to identify the remains which have been in the wooded area for some time. The remains are believed to be of a male with a beard, who was wearing a “Corona” shirt, shorts and blue and black tennis shoes.

The Jefferson County Regional Crime Lab responded and assisted in processing the scene. Orange County Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Judge Hershel Stagner Jr responded and ordered an autopsy. This incident is currently under investigation by the Vidor Police Department. Further information will be released as soon as the autopsy is complete and further details are obtained. We ask anyone with any information of a missing person who fits this description to contact the Vidor Police Department Detective Division. The lead detective in the case is Detective James Blankenship.
