Local venue to hold karaoke contest

A local venue is giving singers an opportunity to shine every Friday this month.

The Capistrano, located on Green Avenue in Orange, will hold the “Rockstar Karaoke Contest” every Friday in October. The event is open to ages 21 and older and there is a $5 entry fee.

Preliminary rounds will be held on Friday, Oct. 9, Oct. 16 and Oct. 23, with the finals to be held in conjunction with the annual Halloween party on Friday, Oct. 30. Cash and prizes will be awarded.

With the popularity of such television programs like “The Voice” and “American Idol,” karaoke has become a widely acceptable form of showcasing one’s talents and karaoke contests are quite common across the region.

The preliminary rounds will be judged on applause and audience participation, whereas the final round on Oct. 30 will have special guest judges on hand.

Call the Capistrano at 409-883-8175 for more information.
