Mason Smith

 

Mason Temple Smith, 70, of Orange, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, in the home he built with his own hands, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.

Born in Bryan, Texas on November 26, 1946, Mason was the son of William Thomas Smith and Herminia Maria (Boriskie) Smith.  A longtime resident of Orange, he served in the U.S. National Guard.  He retired from Signal Industries where he was a Quality Specialist.

He is survived by his loving wife, Becky Robins Smith of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Joe Delk of Orange; his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Jay Mason Delk and Bailey Fay Delk; sister and brother-in-law, Billie and Jim Hickman of The Woodlands.

Also surviving are his brothers-in-law and their wives, Joel and Sue Robins, Donnie and Shirley Robins; nephews and their wives, Jay and Frankie Hickman, Will and Jennifer Hickman, Ty and Sarah Robins; nieces, Kerri Donovan, Janie Harris and her husband, Joel; ten great nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Mason was a member of Community Church in Orange.  He had a special love for his friends and a desire to share the love of Jesus with them and all he knew.  He was a prayer warrior and loved praying for people.

He enjoyed playing golf with his friends and being outdoors taking care of his yard and plants.  He kept his mind sharp by working crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy on television. He was a big fan and supporter of his grandchildren and all their activities.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 17 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 18, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with the Reverend Tim Linscomb, pastor of Calvary’s Purchase Church, officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Pallbearers will be Joe and Jay Delk, Joel Robins, Jay Hickman, Will Hickman, Gaylord Strohm and David Bruce.  Honorary pallbearers will be Fulton Hodge, Steve Kelly, Jim Hickman, Donnie Robins, John Stephenson, Homer Pillsbury, Red Ballast and Donald Delk, Wayne Risinger, Don Cohenour, Preston Fuller, and Alec Scott.
