Marshall Wayne Dougharty, Sr.

Marshall Wayne Dougharty, Sr., 83, of Orange, Texas, passed away on February 27, 2017, in Beaumont, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2017, at Little Cypress Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend David Turner and Glen Dry. Burial will follow at Dougharty Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Deweyville, Texas, on April 30, 1933, he was the son of Sam and Martha Dougharty. Wayne retired from DuPont Sabine River Works after 27 years. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Little Cypress Baptist Church and was honored as Deacon Emeritus after serving 45 years as Deacon. Wayne was an avid gardener and enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He also raised livestock for many years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Martha Dougharty; brothers Willard and Lawrence Dougharty; and sisters, OnnieVay Sweat and Marjorie Martin.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Verna Stephenson Dougharty; children, Rebecca Dougharty, of Littleton, CO, Marshall W. Dougharty, Jr. and wife Kenita, of Orange, Debra Deslatte and husband David, of Port Neches, and Priscilla Parsons and husband Kenneth, of Orange; grandchildren, Heath Moody and wife Jill, Lara Newman and husband Josh, Sam Dougharty and wife Lacey, Justin Dougharty and wife Delana, Lacy Wojnarowski and husband Joseph, Hannah Deslatte, Sarah Deslatte, Aaron Parsons, and Ethan Parsons; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Leola O’Sullivan, of Orange, Nelda McGuire, of Orange, and Pamela Dry and husband Audley, of Victoria; and was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Heath Moody, Sam Dougharty, Justin Dougharty, Aaron Parsons, Ethan Parsons, Luke Nelson, and Josh Newman.
