Marianne Murphy Smith
Marianne Murphy Smith, 67, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018.
Marianne was born on September 25, 1950, in Bridge City, Texas, where the foundation of her character and life experiences were formed and where she grew friendships that would last her lifetime.
Marianne was generous with her love and laughter. She loved a good game of 42, the Astros, a wide and colorful variety of music, enjoying great food – particularly Cajun, debating politics, being “Momo”, rooting for the underdog, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and the State of Texas. Most of all, she loved and cherished her family and friends.
She met her husband Rogers Smith six years ago and together, they embarked on the adventure of her life, exploring the world and spending her days awash in joy. Recently, she stated she was so happy she could burst.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Rosemary McNamara Murphy and Oliver “Rip” Murphy, who left an indelible mark on her and her family. She is also preceded in death by her precious baby brother Michael Murphy, along with her aunts and uncles who helped shape her life.
Marianne’s friends and family who survive her loved her deeply and immensely. She is survived by her loving husband Rogers Smith; her children and spouses she adored: Christopher Morris and Danielle Allen, Sarah and Jay Boniaby, and Kelly and David Haddox; her nieces and nephews who were like children to her and her beloved grand nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings, Marilyn Murphy, Randall Murphy, and Brian Murphy. There are countless other friends and family who Marianne carried with her in her heart.
The family will host a celebration of Marianne’s life on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at her and Rogers’s home from 1pm-6pm. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you share your favorite story, picture and memory with Marianne. She brought so much warmth and joy to those she loved and will be incredibly missed.
