Billy Ray Gray

Billy Ray Gray passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at his home in Austin, Texas. Billy was 70 years of age.

Billy was born on May 28, 1948 in Loretto, Tennessee to the late Otis Gray and Gladys (Ells) Gray. He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving from 1968-1969 in the U.S. Army 6th Battalion, 80th Field Artillery Regiment as a wireman. He achieved the rank of Spec 4.

Billy, for more than 30 years, lived the American Dream owning and operating his own fire protection business in Orange and Austin, TX. Infectious laughter with a larger than life personality, he oozed charisma and lit up a room. He loved with his full heart, never met a stranger and made many life-long friends.

Billy was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and son, Chuck Pomeroy, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn (Hix) Pomeroy Gray of Austin, TX; daughter Alysse Gray of Dallas, TX and son Jordan and wife Carly Gray of Spicewood, TX; daughter Alicia (Pomeroy) and husband Ronald Hebert, daughter Lisa (Pomeroy) and husband Richard Morris, and son Clayton Pomeroy, all of Orange, TX; sister Bonnie (Gray) Goodwin of Lumberton, TX, sister Kathie (Lawrence) Davis of Kountze, TX, sister Mavis Renee (Durr) Reiszner of Houston, TX; goddaughter Janie Hatzenbuehler, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Funeral Celebrant Donna Mayfield will be officiating with military honors afforded by the United States Army.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm.
