Advisories have been issued Monday morning regarding Tropical Storm Francine.

As of 11:26 a.m. the storm had maximum sustained winds near 50 mph and was moving north- northwest at 5 p.m. A turn to the north then northeast   is expected Tuesday, according to information from the National Weather Service.

Francine is expected to intensify into a category 1 hurricane prior to landfall along the central Louisiana coast Wednesday.

• A tropical storm watch has been issued for Orange as well as southern Jefferson and southern Newton counties. Other areas in the tropical storm watch area include Calcasieu, Jeff Davis and western Cameron parishes in southwest Louisiana.
• A hurricane watch has been issued for Acadia, Vermilion, Lafayette, Iberia, St. Martin, St. Mary and eastern Cameron parishes.
• A storm surge watch has been issued for coastal portions of Jefferson County as well as Cameron, Vermilion. St. Martin and St. Mary parishes.

A storm surge watch means that storm surge of greater than three feet is possible in the watch area.

• Tropical storm force winds are expected to begin across Southeast Texas and southern Louisiana Wednesday morning between 8 a.m. and noon.

This timing will change should the forecast track or the size of the storm change.

• There is a 30-60 percent chance of seeing tropical storm force winds across southern parts of Jefferson and Orange counties.

There is a 60-70 percent chance of seeing tropical storm force winds across Southwest Louisiana.

There is a 70-80 percent chance of seeing tropical storm force winds across coastal Vermilion, Iberia, St. Martin and St. Mary parishes.
