Stark Museum of Art reopens

After closing March 17, 2020 due to COVID-19 Crisis, Stark Museum of Art is reopening on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020.

 

OC Master Gardener meeting

Thursday, October 15, we will resume in-person monthly meetings, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the Ballroom on the Orange County EXPO at 11475 FM 1442, Orangefield. All those in attendance MUST wear a face covering. We will maintain six feet apart for social distancing and hand sanitizer will be available. The public is invited to our meetings. Trump Road Rally

Everyone come on out and show your support for President Donald J. Trump from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26. We’re having a road rally that will start on Hwy 105 across from the New Life Church in Vidor, we will be driving through Main Street to Old Hwy 90 following that to Interstate 10, head East to conclude at the intersection at Interstate 10 and State Hwy 62.

Blood Drive

Museum of the Gulf Coast is hosting a blood drive from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 700 Procter Street in Port Arthur. The local blood banks are critically low in their supply. In partnership with LifeShare, we will be hosting an indoors blood drive. We will be in accordance with local and state guidelines regarding COVID. Pumpkin Patch, decorating contest

Total Care Bridge City will be busy in October with the “Pumpkin Patch”.

There will be a Pumpkin Decorating Contest with prizes for first, second and third-place. The entry fee is one canned food item along with the decorated pumpkin that can be dropped off at Total Care, located at 1650 Texas Avenue, between Oct. 1-Oct. 21.

There is also a free mini photo shoot on Oct. 10 and Oct. 17 with the donation of one canned food item. Sign up for a time slot on the website at www.tcmedicalhome.com.

Pumpkin Patch viewing days will be Oct. 21-23 and Oct. 26-30.

 

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

South East Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC) is hosting a free Household Hazardous Waste and Scrap Tire Collection Event 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. Sat., October 24 at Bridge City Intermediate School parking lot at 1029 West Roundbunch Road in Bridge City.

The event is open to all southeast Texas residents.

During this free event, the SETRPC collects items that could pose health and environmental risks if disposed of improperly.

 

Parenting Class

In order to keep our clients and volunteers safe, we will be doing our upcoming Saturday, September 26, Parenting class via ZOOM. If you have someone that needs to register, they can go to www.wellsofagape.org to do so.

Under the classes and services tab click on parenting class. There will be instructions there as well as a link for them to click on to register.

Once they register, we will send them information on what they will need to do prior to the date of the class.

 

VFW Auxiliary Fall Garage Sale

VFW Post 2775 Auxiliary will host a fall garage sale on Saturday, October 10 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the VFW Hall at 5303 North 16th Street in Orange.  Vendors will be allowed to set up Friday, October 9 from 5 p.m. ’til 8 p.m.  Tables will rent for $15 or $20 if along with clothes racks or tent frames.  Parking lot spaces will rent according to space needed.  Make checks payable to VFW Auxiliary; send to Chairman Mary Snapp at 7927 Sandra Lane; Orange, Texas 77632.  For further info, call Mary Snapp 409-697-0380 between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

 

Orange County Beekeepers Group Meetings

Meetings are suspended pending COVID-19 resolution. The Orange County Beekeepers Group normally meets the first Tuesday of each month 6 p.m. Anyone interested in Honeybees or Beekeeping is welcome to join us on Facebook, search Orange Texas Beekeepers.

We are a group of local beekeepers interested in spreading information about honeybees and the pollination service they perform. This group works with the Orange County Ag Agent to expand beekeeping opportunity in Orange. We also strive to aid and assist fellow beekeepers, any new beekeepers and the general public.

5K Ministries Food Pantry, located at 9125 Skeeter, Orange, TX 77632 at the corner of Hwy 62 and Skeeter 3 miles north of the intersection in Mauriceville, is open 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays. For more information, call 409-745-7110

Fly Ins

Orange County Radio Control Club meets each Tuesday and Saturday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the club’s airfield located at 10623 Farm to Market Road 1442 in Orange. Guests are welcome as long as club members are present. Learn more about building and flying remote controlled airplanes with other enthusiasts.

 

Hand Quilting Demonstration
