All of my kids will be starting school at the SAME school this year, albeit it different campuses.

For the longest that I can remember we have been split between two schools. All of our kids attended the Presbyterian Day School and we are so glad that they did. Their program provided our kids with a firm foundation for when they entered elementary school. We will forever be grateful for what they have done for our family.
However, all of my kids being in one spot will be such a convenience. The procession of all the Kovatch kids at Orangefield ISD will have officially begun.
This got me thinking about time. On one end of the spectrum, our youngest will be in the district for 14 years beginning with preschool this year.

Jackson, however, only has two years left at OISD and then will be heading off to college. Rosie is right behind him with three years left. It really is amazing and also sobering how quickly kids grow up.
I found myself driving through the neighborhood where we used to live. I drove by our old house and thought back to when we brought Jackson home from the hospital. It is crazy to think how quickly almost 17 years has passed us by.
I think I take time for granted. I get caught up in the day to day hustle and bustle that I forget to take time to just stop and enjoy what I have. This epidemic has forced us to pump the brakes a bit and take a step back. I am thankful for that side effect of what has been a truly trying time for the world.
At the end of the day, I hope my kids know what they mean to me. We don’t always see eye to eye and aren’t always on the best terms, but not a moment goes by that I don’t thank God that I get to be their dad.
