Some of you might know that in the last several months, I became the Executive Director for Meals on Wheels.  What an opportunity to live out the scriptures as the Bible directs us.

James 2:14-18  “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?  Can that faith save him?  If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?  So also, faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.  But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.”  Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

I have lots of friends who are giving and caring.  They are always looking for opportunities to help their fellow Christian, or non-Christians, so I am amazed that God put me in this position.  Not that I haven’t helped my fellow Christians, but there are so many more worthy than me.

Yet, everyday God reminds me that I am in this position for a reason.

I do understand it is a privilege to work for God, so I arrive 45 minutes to an hour early just to pray with the kitchen staff each morning.  We pray for our Seniors, the employees, salvation, and blessings on all just to name a few.

But we do not have to be in a job to have a ministry.

God expects us to have a ministry, helping people, telling them about the love of God and His great salvation, each and every day.

I’ve shared before, that in school I hated English and Grammar, yet here I am writing an article once a week.  If you put yourself in the path of serving, God will give you the tools to accomplish it.

I’m sure that some that read these articles are saying to themselves “She needs to take another English class”, but I know God placed me right where I need to be.

I have faith to believe that someone needs to hear what God has to say to them each week.

As the above scripture says, “Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

I think what James is saying here is that you can see works; but faith is hard to see with your eyes.  We must show the world we have faith by doing works, so they can see the tangible output of our faith.

I am always looking for opportunities to serve God thru works so I thought you might also be looking for an outlet to help you complete your faith thru works.

We have many opportunities at Meals on Wheels for volunteers.  We have other programs besides just delivering meals.  If you want to use us as an opportunity, please call me to find out if we have an area that fits your personality, or your areas of expertise.

Yes, I think it is important when we do works that we love it, so it is important for you to find something you want to do, not have to do.  You won’t last long in a volunteer position if you don’t love it.

Philippians 2:14 and 15 states “Do everything readily and cheerfully – no bickering, no second-guessing allowed!  Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society.  Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God.  Carry the light-giving Message into the night.”
