PRESS RELEASE — On or about the above listed date and time, PAPD officers responded to 1800 block of South MLK  Drive (SH 82 on Pleasure Island) after several reports of a major traffic accident involving a truck and a motorcycle were received.

Upon arrival officers located the crash scene and vehicles involved.  Preliminary investigation revealed that both vehicles involved were travelling in opposite directions when the collision occurred.  Poor visibility is believed to have been a factor in the crash as weather conditions had become foggy.

The motorcyclist’s injuries were severe and ultimately proved fatal.  The driver of the motorcycle was identified to be W/M Nathan Kieth MCCarver, 39 years of age, a resident of Orange, Texas.

Members of the PAPD Advanced Reconstruction Team (ART) were summoned to survey the scene and conduct detailed investigation and documentation.

PAPD’s forensic unit responded to collect evidence, as well as photographically document the scene.  This incident is still being investigated by members of  PAPD A.R.T.
