Henry Lee Reed, 82, received an early Father’s Day present, on Saturday outside his residence on 9th Street in Orange, when his family drove past his house with horns honking and ‘Happy Father’s Day’ signs held high.

Reed, a native of Orange, has been quarantined in his home since the beginning of the COVID- 19 pandemic and had not been able to have much, if any, contact with his family. His family, however, was not about to let this special holiday pass without showing their love for a man that means so much to them.

At noon on Saturday, Reed’s family drove past his house honking horns, clanging cow bells and holding up ‘Happy Father’s Day’  signs as he sat on his scooter in his front yard seeing just how much he was loved.

“The family wanted to celebrate a great dad that everyone has missed,” Tammy Reed-Taylor, his daughter, said. “So, we’re celebrating Father’s Day the best way we know how.”

After the drive-by parade the family parked and following a prayer from Reed’s son, Pastor Anthony Reed Sr., various family members conveyed their deepest love, appreciation and respect for a man who will cherish Father’s Day 2020 for years to come.
